Assistant Council Clerk
St. Landry Parish Council seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to take on the position of part-time Assistant Clerk to the Council. This position is a temporary full-time position for at least 6 weeks while the Council Clerk is on leave beginning in July. After which the position will return to a probationary part-time position with a work week of 16-20 hours per week. The incumbent shall also be available when needed.
The incumbent is a key point of contact with councilmember, parish residents, parish government departments, and state offices. Therefore the incumbent should possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to priorities work with minimal supervision. The Assistant Clerk must have the skill set to maintain accurate records for the Parish Council, attend meetings as determined by the Council, prepare official proceedings of meetings by voice transcriptions, prepare and mail agendas for meetings, type correspondence and memos for members and perform all other duties assigned by the Council Clerk, Council Chair and Council Members.
Qualifications-Four College degree preferred or an Associate degree or Technical College degree in the field of business, public administration, Criminal Justice, Finance or related field with at least two years of experience in administrative work or, an equivalent combination, of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. The incumbent must possess exceptional skills to work with Word Document, Excel and Outlook.
Additional required skills include; ability to work as team member and work independently with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
