Oil, gas impact on state huge, says economist

Highlights of the study indicate that the industry is responsible for 300,000 jobs across every parish in the state, that Louisiana is the second highest producer of crude oil (counting offshore) and natural gas and that it maintains the second largest refining capacity in the country. The industry has a $73.8 billion economic impact on the state and contributes $4.2 billion in state and local taxes and fees.
